Dr Eva Sweeney
Dr Eva Sweeney shares how the Anatomical Society has supported her academic journey. After completing her PhD in 2015, she worked at Ross University in the Caribbean before returning to Ireland to lecture and demonstrate anatomy. She received a Symington Bequest in 2014, which enabled her to attend a conference in Parma and publish research in the Journal of Anatomy. She also highlights how the Society’s funding has helped her students undertake summer research, inspiring many to pursue further studies. Dr Sweeney credits the Society with positively shaping both her career and the aspirations of future anatomical scientists.
Catherine Hennessy
Catherine Hennessy describes how the Anatomical Society’s bursaries, including the Symington Tan Award, enabled her to attend a conference in Boston where she presented a poster on using Twitter as an educational tool in anatomy teaching. She highlights how this support helped her share her research and engage with the wider academic community.
