Please Complete the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Survey on the Use of Formaldehyde
Attention all UK-based members of the Anatomical Society/ British Association of Clinical Anatomy/ Institute of Anatomical Sciences:
The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are reviewing all their biocidal product regulations and have now reached ‘Product type 22’ (embalming and taxidermist fluids), which are products used in the “preservation and disinfection of human and animal corpses or parts”. This includes formaldehyde which is crucial for all Anatomy facilities that work with donated human and animal tissues.
The HSE has created a survey as an information-gathering exercise to ascertain how formaldehyde and other embalming products are used in the UK.
It is vital for all our members of the Anatomy community to fill out the survey so that we can continue to make best use of our bequeathed human and animal material for education and research. This will ensure that HSE get an idea of how crucial formaldehyde is for the Anatomy sector. Please share the survey with all your colleagues in Anatomy/ allied fields.
You can find the survey here: Survey on the use of chemicals when handling the deceased and/or parts of the deceased (surveymonkey.com)
It only takes around 3 minutes to complete, and the deadline is 8th December 2024.
