Clinical Anatomy Education Fellow, School of Medicine, University of Liverpool

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

Institute of Clinical Sciences

School of Medicine

Clinical Anatomy Education Fellow

    £32,428 - £57,444 pa (pro rata)

Applications are invited from trainees, from any clinical discipline, who are fully registered medical practitioners and who have an interest in teaching clinical anatomy and medical education. You will be required to undertake teaching of medical students within the Human Anatomy Resource Centre (HARC), based on the main University campus. It will be expected that you will work with a team of academic staff to further develop and enhance anatomy teaching provision for the MBCHB programme in the School of Medicine. In addition, you will contribute to core School activities such as helping with admissions, assessment and student support. You will also be encouraged to participate in pedagogic research projects in medical education, in line with the strategic research interests of the School.  During the course of the appointment you will be supported to undertake a teaching qualification. Whilst this is an education focussed post, if you wish to continue some clinical work, this could be discussed.  The post has been designed to provide a clinical context to the teaching of anatomy in HARC. You will therefore need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of a variety of clinical subjects and how to relate these to anatomy.  The post is fully funded by the School of Medicine. As either an out-of-programme experience or stand-alone experience, this post can equip you in your future career to lead and inspire in medical education.

For the right candidate, the fte could be negotiable to fit in around other medical commitments. The minimum fte required would be 0.5fte on fixed days to support the HARC related teaching. If you were available for further fixed hours, then additional teaching activity would be assigned within the medical school, alongside other Clinical Education Fellows employed by the school.

The post is for one year initially and is available from February 2018, although an earlier start could be determined for the right candidate.
